Osaka: Fake-new-but-really-old

IMG_1342

Shin-sekai. This area of Osaka is called “New World” and it almost manages to pull it off, what with it’s mall with a built in roller-coaster, 3 story public bath with 30 different themed baths and saunas, and a silver tower reigning over southern Osaka. Except everything has a real 1970s vibe to it. Plus it’s in the slums.

I wandered a bit around there, before heading over to Tennoji Park and Tennoji Zoo, which also had kind of a cool-2-decades-ago vibe.

As it got dark I returned to shinsekai to snap some more pictures before getting out of there.
