Stanley – Winter Trip 2007

Stanley is on the Southeast side of Hong Kong Island. It’s most famous for being a popular tourist destination and home to a prison housing the most dangerous criminals in Hong Kong. Ann and I visited Stanley today. The tourist side mostly, not so much the prison side.

We started out the day eating dim sum at One Peking Road though. My favorite Chiu Chow style place to have dim sum on the Kowloon side.

We had the old favorites:

Then we took a bus to Stanley. It was about an hour away, on windy mountain roads. We sat on the upper deck which proved an ordeal in trying to stay in ones seat as the bus rocked back and forth. It was just sitting on my ass but it wore me out, which isn’t easy to do (Not hard to do either).

After some shopping we went back to Causeway Bay. Sunday is the day (literally) every maid in Hong Kong has the day off, so the streets were packed with Indonesian and Filipino women. It was surreal.

  1. I’m digging the wide angle shots. Crazy crowds at Causeway Bay!
